PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Executive Director of JA Angelina County, an office operating under Junior Achievement of Dallas, provides overall leadership and direction for all local operations, ensuring alignment with the mission, strategy, and standards of the organization. This role is responsible for strategic planning, fundraising and development, board engagement, program oversight, financial management, community relations, and leading and supervising staff and volunteers. The Executive Director serves as the primary ambassador for JA in Angelina County and is accountable for advancing organizational impact and sustainability throughout Angelina County.
Reports To: Regional Executive Director (JA Tyler)
Dotted-Line Reporting: President & CEO, Junior Achievement of Dallas (for strategic alignment,
policy adherence, and performance input)
Location: 109 W. Lufkin Ave, Lufkin TX
Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic & Organizational Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic plans that align with JA Dallas goals and local community needs
- Ensure program quality, operational excellence, and adherence to organizational standards and policies.
- Financial Management
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting
- Ensure fiscal responsibility, sustainability, and compliance with established procedures
- Fundraising & Development
- Lead fundraising initiatives including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events
- Cultivate and steward donor relationships to support long-term growth and sustainability
- Board Relations & Governance
- Partner closely with the local Board of Directors to provide leadership, guidance, and regular updates
- Support board engagement, development, and governance best practices
- Program Oversight
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of JA programs
- Ensure programs effectively meet student and community needs
- Staff Leadership & Management
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and mission-driven culture
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain staff; establish clear expectations and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development and growth
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and operational coverage to meet program and organizational needs
- External Relations & Advocacy
- Serve as the primary representative of JA Angelina County within the community
- Advocate for the organization through public speaking, media engagement, and community outreach
- Partnerships & Community Engagement
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with businesses, schools, and community organizations
- Strengthen JA’s visibility, reputation, and impact across the region
- Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Establish metrics to assess program effectiveness and organizational impact
- Use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
- Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in evening, and occasional weekend events as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of three to five (3–5) years of demonstrated experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, relationship development, or event management
- Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or managing staff and/or teams, including performance management and professional development
- Strong organizational, written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor database systems
