Meet Palak Patel: 2025 JA Dallas Student of the Year

Every year, Junior Achievement of Dallas selects an extraordinary high school senior to be named the JA Dallas Student of the Year, a role that highlights leadership, perseverance and academic excellence. For the 2024-25 school year, that honor goes to Palak Patel, a senior at Plano East Senior High School, whose passion for business, community impact and continuous learning stood out among a competitive pool of applicants.

Palak’s journey with Junior Achievement (JA) began as a participant in the JA Career Speaker Series, but it was her role as a JA Dallas intern that truly shaped her perspective. Through hands-on experiences, she developed key skills in financial analysis, project management and leadership. One of her most rewarding projects was leading the creation of a student speaker series, where she coordinated with professionals from various industries to inspire her peers. This experience built on her prior leadership role in launching an environmental club at her school, where she led projects like recycling initiatives and a school garden.

As the JA Dallas Student of the Year, Palak will speak at the Dallas Business Hall of Fame, presented by Ryan, LLC, on February 22, 2025, at the Omni Dallas Hotel. During this event, she will share her inspiring story and future goals with business and community leaders.

“Palak Patel exemplifies the qualities of leadership, perseverance and ambition that we strive to instill in every student who participates in our programs,” said Chris LaTurno, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Dallas.

Palak will also receive the Sandi Smith Scholarship, a $10,000 award that will support her college education and career aspirations in business. Her story is a testament to the power of experiential learning and mentorship—principles that drive Junior Achievement’s mission to inspire and prepare young people for success in a global economy.
