Junior Achievement of Dallas Receives Grant from Travelers Foundation Dallas, TX, June 5, 2016 – Junior Achievement of Dallas has received a $15,000 grant from the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of Travelers. The grant will allow Dallas area students to participate in free financial literacy programming through JA Finance Park® during the 2016-17 school year. JA Finance Park® enables middle and high school students to build foundations for making intelligent lifelong personal finance decisions, in a program correlated to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). In 13 teacher-led lessons, combined with a 4.5 hour simulation, students learn about the many pieces of a personal budget, such as rent/mortgage, car payments, insurance, savings, entertainment, groceries and more! As students strive to create a balanced budget, they begin to understand the value of money, and make the connection between hard work, education, and their future earnings. “We are grateful for our partnership with Travelers Foundation. The investment of $15,000 for JA Finance Park® will allow us to reach over 300 students with JA Curriculum focused in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work-readiness. It is partners like Travelers who make our student impact possible,” says JA Dallas President, Jan Murfield. Travelers is ensuring opportunity by contributing to efforts that create strong, vibrant communities and offer pathways to success.
